My Boys!
These are my new favorite photos of me and my boys! Patrick took them with his IPhone when we had lunch at Memorial Park the other week. When we were in Europe, Matt and KK told us about a great app called Camera Bag. It is amazing. You can add really cool effects to photos! Thanks P for capturing these moments for me!
Favorite Things....
This is an unusual post for me. Usually it is photos of the boys and a caption to go with them. Today I feel like actually "blogging" about some of my favorite things about The Heights....our wonderful neighborhood!
We have lived here for almost 7 years! Wow, hard to believe! Since we moved in to our home our lovely community has only continued to get better. We have amazing neighbors. We have W. Cottage Block BBQs, girls dinners, hang out at the nearby park, walk to Antidote on the weekends for coffee, get together for early dinners on Fridays at Berryhill, etc. It is truly an awesome group of people we are surrounded by!
So here is my list of my favorite things about The Heights:
1. You can walk everywhere!
2. Great restaurants...from upscale to dives
3. Funky used book stores
4. Antidote - a great little independent coffee shop
5. 19th Street...cool shopping, dining, antiques, etc.
6. Buffalo Exchange (on 19th) - I have found some amazing things there lately!
7. Amazing houses with a lot of character
8. Proctor Park - our park one block away from our house. Always packed with kids
9. Our new hike and bike path that goes from 610 to Downtown....right past the Target too! Wow!
10. THE PEOPLE!
We are so lucky to live in such a cool place. I am glad that the boys are getting to experience it too!
Herman Park
We took the boys to Herman Park on Sunday afternoon. We went to ride the train! It was so cool. The boys loved it. No pictures of the train, but video. Will try to figure out how to post that later. We had a great time exploring and walking around after we got off the train. It is really cool over there. Our new favorite place in Houston!
Our First Field Trip!
We took the boys on their first field trip the other week. Our friend, Darren, owns a Ditch Witch dealership. The boys are obsessed with diggers, dump trucks, back hoes, excavators, etc. We thought it would be fun for them to go and see some up close. They were a little taken back at first, but slowly warmed up and Miles even sat on Darren's lap for a bit. He turned on the machine and moved the arms up and down...even honked the horn! It was really cool. When we were done we went inside and Uncle Darren gave each of the boys a Ditch Witch puppy! Mom and Dad even got baseball hats!
Thanks for having us Darren! Next time we come we want to dig some dirt!
GG Mom came to visit!
My grandmother aka "GG Mom" came to visit for the day the other week. It was so nice....she just flew down from Lubbock in the morning and then caught a flight home that evening. I know it was a long day for her, but she is a trooper. We took her to storytime at Barnes and Noble and then went to lunch at Pronto! We did have some time to relax and put our feet up while the boys napped. She helped with dinner time and bath time too. Then she and Gaga went to get some mexican food and a much needed margarita before she caught a flight home. What an amazing lady! We love you GG Mom and can't wait to see you again.

The Winter twins, Eli and Isaac, and their wonderful mother, Cathy, came to visit us over the winter break! It was so good to see them all. I had Eli in kindergarten at West U and now they are in middle school! Wow! They came with lots of wonderful gifts for the boys (even brought Molly a new toy). One of the boys favorites was this tent that we now have set up in the playroom! It is so much fun. They like to get in with Daddy before bedtime and read stories. I can't wait for Daddy to take them camping someday....Mommy will be at a nearby hotel! Ha!
Brothers......there is nothing better! I came across this quote the other day.
"Sometimes being a brother is even better than being a superhero." - Marc Brown (author of the Arthur books)....a little kindergarten teacher knowledge!
My mom gave me this wall art for Christmas. I love what it says about brothers! It is hanging in the playroom now. It is truly amazing watching the boys play together! They truly have an amazing bond! I am so thankful that there are two!
